Immodesty Pageant

Tue Apr 28, 2009, 11:29 PM
"And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. Mark 13:13, Luke 21:17"

This will probably be the last time I'll mention the Miss California/Perez Hilton incident, but it must be told. Back in the other journal, one of my friends and I discussed that it was wise for Miss Cali to stand up for the truth, and we also agreed that a christian woman has no business being part of an immodest competition like that to begin with. Yes, Miss Cali is a very beautiful woman, and there's no harm with a Christian woman becoming a model, HOWEVER---when a modeling agency demands that the models should wear sensual clothing, then it's time to find a new modeling job. I applauded Carrie for defending the gospel, but I now believe that her persecution came with a consequence. Remember, ladies of Christ. We are to dress in modest apparel; nothing that will cause our brothers in Christ (or any man regardless of his faith) to stumble. If you're a model, please be wise with your occupation. Don't work for a company whereas dressing immodest or posing in compromising positions is the main objective. Don't compromise the word of God; don't be deceived by perverts.

Oh and watch this video for more details. 4 minutes of your time is all I'm asking for. GOD BLESS!! [link]

Is it wrong to make a man stumble because you dress sensually? I know I've smashed MY nose on the pavement a few times beacuse an attractive woman walked past. I mean, flaunting sexuality is a little different... maybe I'm rambling, but us men should be able to control ourselves no matter how provocatively dressed. Sheik Taj Din al-Hilali, the most senior Shiek here in Aus, said that women were to blame for sexual assault for dressing provocatively. Quite frankly, he's an idiot. But I think that anyone who sexualy assaults a woman is unlikely to be disuaded by an abundance of clothing...

:iconxiao-feng-fury:
Yeah. One reason is that a woman should not dress immodest to begin with, and because of her improper clothing, she is tempting men. Not all men are strong enough to resist sexual temptation, however, rape is unjust. It's a double no-no.

It's simply not proper for a woman to show off her goods to strangers, or to wear clothes that are 2 sizes too small. (Especially if she's married!) The same for guys, too, but women are more guilty of dressing immodest..sorry ladies, but it's true.

Did you ever read Persepolis, by chance?

Perhaps I should stop wearing all those super-tight jeans then...

I'm all with you on the modeling thing. Women can be sexy without looking like trashy whores. And I am also SICK of the media pushing sex on young girls (heck, they even sell thong panties for little girls) and it's nice to see you speak out on this matter. So many girls (and women!) today act as if modesty's a horrible thing when it's one of the things that keeps us civilized.

It takes a balance between men and women....but I can't deny that I'll look if she's attractive and flaunting it......but a woman who flaunts would never make a good wife for me....

Men should have enough sense and control not to rape though.

So true. Modesty should be in high regard for many reasons whether one is a person of faith or not.

Indeed. While some religions take modesty to a extreme (The Taliban making women wear burqas, for example) common-sense modesty should be for everyone. I also hate when people challenge modesty for the sake of a challenge (teenagers wearing tube tops and thongs because they know it pisses off their elders) I've tried revealing clothing before, and was extremely uncomfortable in it. I can't understand how some women feel so comfortable near-naked in public :/

It was about a girl growing up in Iran and watching as her country was essentially turned into a police state. Almost overnight her entire life changed. She could no longer play with the boys in school and various members of her family were hauled off to prison camps for being dissident.

But the one thing that really stuck with me was when in the book, she was watching a public broadcast that explained why women had to cover their hair. Apparently, women's hair emits harmful rays that make men's morals go weak. So that's why they have to cover it.

Does this sound familiar to you at all?
