to speak severely to (a person), because he has done wrong "The boy was rebuked by his teacher for cheating."

So if the bible commands for us to love our enemies, (and not to love the evil that they do) then what can we say when our enemies are getting out of line with us? A deviant member confronted me on rebuking enemies. Basically, she was saying that to rebuke an enemy would contradict Luke 6:27-28 which says- "But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you." However, rebuking is permitted in the bible.


"As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent." Rev 3:19.

Proverbs 17:10: A single rebuke does more for a person of understanding than a hundred lashes on the back of a fool.


So would this be contradictory to Luke 6:27-28? Nope. Does this make Christians holier than thou? No. Should we rebuke a friend or foe if he/she is in a wrong? I believe so. I know we live in a world whereas chastising is frowned upon, BUT...thank God for chastisement. Sure, being chastised doesn't feel good...and getting rebuked isn't always easy to swallow. It's tough love. Sometimes the truth hurts. lol SO uh, no. The bible is not contradicting itself, and it's perfectly normal to rebuke a person when he/she is wrong---just don't go over board. lol
